Additionally, Google showcased Project Astra, an experimental multimodal AI assistant, which leverages smartphone cameras and microphones for real-time interactions. Astra features multilingual conversations, enhanced memory, and integration with various Google services.
The announcement positions Google as a strong contender in the generative AI field, particularly against OpenAI, as it coincides with OpenAI’s campaign of unveiling new products. Google also revealed Project Mariner, an AI-powered Chrome extension that successfully navigates web tasks.
In parallel, Anthropic has released Claude 3.5 Haiku, a faster and more efficient model that competes in the same space. Priced similarly at $20 monthly, this model shows remarkable improvements in coding tasks and data processing capabilities, making it a notable alternative for businesses.
